How to Reduce Inflation in Geoplanetical

Learn how to tackle inflation in Geoplanetical through money creation checks, central-bank repayment, rate-control rules and practical supply fixes.

Updated

01

Start with money creation and supply shortages

To tackle inflation in Geoplanetical, avoid further monetary financing, use Repay the central bank to reverse part of earlier financing when Treasury funds allow, and address shortages affecting production. Check your currency arrangements, financing controls, production and electricity supply before choosing a response: prices are connected to both monetary conditions and available goods.

02

Find the pressure behind rising prices

  1. Open Stats → World Statistics → Production & Trade. Compare what your country produces, consumes, imports and exports to identify goods worth investigating. Use that comparison to focus your next checks on domestic production or dependence on supplies from abroad.
  2. Open Electricity and compare domestic generation, imports and unmet demand. This identifies whether power supply is falling short. Fuel shortages at coal or gas plants can raise costs, restrict production and reduce tax income, so a generation problem deserves attention alongside monetary policy.
  3. Inspect Fuel reserves in Electricity. Compare each fuel’s stock, remaining running time and latest delivery to understand the plant’s supply position. Changing Target changes the desired reserve; it does not immediately deliver the missing fuel.
  4. Open Health → Food if food prices or availability are the immediate problem. During a crisis, this screen identifies imports failing to arrive, falling production, high prices or several pressures together. Use the stated cause to choose your next action.
03

Check who controls your interest rate

Open Money & Finance → Currency & central bank to inspect your monetary arrangements. You can control the policy interest rate where your monetary system permits it, or leave the decision to an independent central bank. Currency unions can limit that choice, and adopting the euro makes your policy rate follow the ECB.

Creating your own currency does not automatically give the government control of interest rates. Central-bank independence still follows the law, and existing debt keeps its currency. Check those restrictions before treating a currency change as your route to monetary control.

04

Separate money creation from debt repayment

Open Budget → Summary → Emergency measures to inspect monetary financing and its availability conditions. Printing requires a compatible monetary system and government control of the central bank; IMF conditions can prohibit it. Compare the amount printed with what the Treasury actually receives, the resulting debt and the change in monetary credibility.

OptionEffects and limits
Create money through monetary financingRaises prices and adds debt held by the central bank. The real value received is smaller than the nominal amount printed.
Repay the central bankUses Treasury cash, repays central-bank debt and withdraws money from circulation. Treasury funds and central-bank holdings limit the amount; lost credibility does not return instantly.
Repay ordinary sovereign debtUses the separate Repay debt action. Repayment needs spendable Treasury cash and outstanding bonds to buy back, while the calculation preserves a Treasury buffer.
  1. Use Repay the central bank in the Budget window when you want to reverse part of monetary financing. Review the cash used, debt repaid and money withdrawn from circulation. Base the decision on those effects and the available amount.
  2. Select Repay debt in Budget → Summary when your aim is ordinary sovereign-debt repayment. Review its repayment preview and protected cash buffer before proceeding. Check the result before making another financial decision.
05

Address the supply bottleneck you found

  1. Enable Allow purchases through Electricity → View electricity trade → Trade rules, then select Apply if you want to permit electricity imports. Deliveries still require a connected supplier with electricity available to sell. Sovereign default blocks electricity imports.
  2. Use Expand connections when connection capacity is the reported constraint. Review the cost, construction duration and funding or technology restrictions before selecting Start construction. The additional capacity helps only after construction finishes.
  3. Choose Prepare an investment under Business & Investment → Productive investment to target a company, specific good or sector. For a sector programme, you can identify goods to favour. Match that target to the production or import dependence you investigated.
  4. Configure the investment programme with Produce more at home or Reduce a critical dependence, as appropriate. Set its maximum budget and duration. These choices define the programme you will assess before authorising it.
  5. Authorise the programme after reviewing its assessment and proposed project, including workers, supplies, electricity and export transport where shown. Financing, technology or industrial requirements can still delay the start. The budget ceiling is not spent all at once.
06

Account for Early Access economy fixes

Check Steam’s patch notes when comparing your campaign with older advice. Updates have corrected runaway inflation in crisis countries and temporary price shocks turning into permanent inflation. Other changes improved central-bank handling of deflation and made central-bank credibility earned rather than fixed by income level.

07

Understand the inflation_shock console cheat

inflation_shock <percent> directly shifts your currency’s price level, as if money had been printed or withdrawn. Its permitted range is -50% to +1000%. A non-pegged exchange rate moves the same day, while prices catch up over about nine months.

A shared currency passes the shock to every member. The command is refused when the selected country uses a currency issued by another country. It is a console cheat rather than an interest-rate adjustment, and successful use permanently disables achievements for that campaign.
