What a Campaign Includes Now
You can govern or lead an opposition party across more than 200 nations and territories. Campaigns begin on January 1, 2026, with starting economies, institutions and international relationships based on that period. There are no alternative historical starting dates or scripted campaigns; subsequent events follow the simulation and its participants.
The playable systems connect domestic decisions with international consequences. You can manage taxes and spending, pursue legislation through political institutions, negotiate treaties and direct military strategy. The Agenda, country reports and ministers’ advice help you follow developments instead of relying only on headline figures.
Economic Fixes Affect Long Campaigns
The November 3 updates addressed inflation spirals and other simulation problems. Wages now better follow the real economy instead of rising merely because money gains value, and public-sector pay follows the same rules. The minimum wage also received a fix for strange behavior after a hard currency reform.
Other delivered changes address falling prices: indexed minimum wages, minimum pensions and family allowances now retain their real value during sharp price declines. Central banks handle deflation better, while taxes expressed in local money remain stable when prices fall. Revisit these figures before carrying an older economic strategy forward.
Housing and Construction Have New Controls
Housing updates added renovation of poor-quality homes and repairs to damaged public and private housing. You can pause, resume or reduce housing projects, with costs shown before confirmation. Blocked projects now explain missing money or materials more clearly and avoid misleading delivery dates.
Power plants no longer have a size limit, and a new sizing slider lets you tailor orders to your needs. Orders display monthly payments and the share of demand they cover. Energy-transition programs can also be paused and resumed, while programs blocked by missing technology no longer drain the treasury.
Military Movement and Diplomacy Have Expanded
Troops now take the fastest available route to the front by land, air or sea, including when no land route exists. Moving troops between continents does not require transport aircraft. The unit panel and Bases screen explain destinations and blocked movements, making them useful places to inspect a stalled deployment.
Delivered diplomatic additions include peace summits for negotiating ceasefires and armistices, plus NATO membership applications with progress tracking and votes. Sanctions deals can require a ceasefire, the return of occupied territory or a nuclear-program freeze. Breaking those deals can bring sanctions back, so review their commitments before agreeing.
Returning to an Existing Save
Save fixes address loading failures after partial annexation involving a hydrogen network. Saves affected by the “production route asset invalid” error can load again. Another fix addresses a deflation spiral that could crash long campaigns, making these changes especially relevant when returning to an interrupted run.
Let Steam finish updating before reopening your campaign. Keep a named save before your next major policy change, then review your budget, construction blockers and military orders as you get used to the revised systems.
Roadmap Ideas Have No Scheduled Release Dates
The roadmap lists cyberattacks, deeper trade, additional political systems, BRICS, rebels, more technology and Mars exploration as planned ideas without scheduled release dates. These belong to future development plans. The economic repairs, housing improvements and military-movement changes described above have already appeared in updates.
The developer intends to continue fixing bugs, improving existing systems and adding content, with player feedback helping inform the work. Roadmap plans are not guaranteed deliveries, and the stated Early Access duration remains an estimate. Base your decision to start a campaign on the systems available now.
Early Access Questions
- Will Geoplanetical still receive major updates after Early Access?
- The developer plans continued fixes, system improvements and added content. The roadmap describes intended work without dates or guaranteed delivery, so it does not promise particular major updates after Early Access.
- Can I play the current release with friends?
- No. Geoplanetical is a single-player game, with other governments managed by the simulation.
- Can Workshop mods change the simulation?
- No. Current mod support covers presentation, including leader and party names, portraits and flags. Mods can come from the Mod studio or Steam Workshop and load when the game starts.
- Does a campaign have a fixed end date?
- No. There is no year limit or hidden countdown. Losing an election or war does not automatically end the campaign, and you can continue in opposition or choose another actor in the same world.
